1. APPLE iPAD 9.7

The latest iPad incorporates a number of performance enhancements, it supports the Apple digital Pencil, and it sells at a base price of $329. Schools can purchase the basic model for $299, so this version of Apple’s flagship is aimed at an expanded consumer base. It’s smaller in size than the 10.5″ iPad Pro, but it’s designed to be both productive and flexible as a media portal. The scaled-down 10.5″ Pro and this latest iPad weigh the same, 1.03 lbs., and an LED-backlit Retina display with a sharp 2,048 × 1,536 pushes the same pixel count as the Pro. The 9.7 processor is the A10 Fusion fourth-generation chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, embedded M10 coprocessor, and 32GB or 128GB memory capacity. The camera is an 8-megapixel with autofocus, panorama, burst mode, and a five-element f/2.4 lens. Photos are HDR, and the camera features body and face detection, photo geotagging, and auto stabilization. Video is 1,080p HD that offers slo-mo at 120fps, time-lapse video with stabilization, 3X video zoom, and body and face detection. The FaceTime camera is a 1.2-megapixel. www.apple.com

2. ZEROLEMON BATTERY CASE

ZeroLemon produces a variety of smartphone cases that include technology for extending battery life while offering protection. The soft case pictured is the recently released 8,000 mAh battery case for the Galaxy S8 Active. It will extend 100%+ power for the phone, effectively providing 140% extra battery life. The ZeroLemon Ultra Power Galaxy Note 8 case has an even more powerful 10,000 mAh Li-polymer battery that will add 200% to the full-day battery life already on the phone, providing another two days of power before you need to recharge. Along with the Samsung battery cases, ZeroLemon has LG, Google Pixel 2, and iPhone cases. www.zerolemon.com

3. iPHONE SPECIAL RED EDITION

In April, Apple introduced its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in a Special Red Edition. Both have red glass enclosures with matching aluminum bands and a sleek black front. Greg Joswiak, Apple VP of marketing, explained the unique color offering, “This special edition (PRODUCT) RED iPhone features a stunning red and black color combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS.” A portion of the proceeds for all purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants for testing, counseling, and treatment with a special focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies. All other specs for the red iPhone models are identical to the silver, space gray, and gold offerings of the iPhone 8. www.apple.com

4. DYSON WI-FI AIR PURIFIER

The Dyson Pure Cool Link Wi-Fi Air Purifier/Fan now supports Amazon Alexa and can respond to voice commands. The Purifier stands 40″ tall, has a base that’s 7.5″ wide, and weighs 8.4 lbs. It’s both a fan and an air purifier, capable of automatically removing 99.97% of pollutants and allergens as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust, mold spores, bacteria, and pet dander. It also removes household odors and organics like paint fumes. The Dyson Link app shows real-time air quality reports and includes controls for the purifier directly from your phone. A physical remote control also lets you control night-time mode and a sleep timer. www.dyson.com
