Plastic Technologies Inc. (PTI) family of companies CFO J. Stephen McNally, CMA, CPA, has been named IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Chair-Elect for the fiscal 2020-2021 period, which means he will be IMA Chair for 2021-2022.

“I’m passionate about our profession and about IMA’s role in making our profession great,” McNally said. “As IMA Chair, I’m hoping to instill this same passion in others.”

In his role at PTI, based in Holland, Ohio, McNally oversees all financial and IT operations. Previously, he was the finance executive for Campbell Soup Company’s Napoleon & Flavor Operations, including Campbell’s premier Soup, Sauce, and Beverage manufacturing facilities in Northwest Ohio and Campbell’s flavor operation in Milwaukee, Wis.

McNally currently serves on the IMA Global Board of Directors, is a member of IMA’s Toledo Chapter, and is board liaison to the IMA Committee on Ethics. He represented IMA on the 2011-2013 Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Advisory Council, which updated COSO’s original Internal Control—Integrated Framework. McNally also served on the IMA Leadership Academy faculty and the IMA Accounting Honor Society advisory board.

“I want IMA to proactively pursue and support members at small and midsize private companies, equipping them to be effective, well-rounded management accountants and finance executives,” McNally said. “I want IMA to ensure these members are ‘future-ready,’ positioned to earn their seat at the table as full business partners.”

McNally has held volunteer board positions with the Boy Scouts of America Erie Shores Council, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Henry County Community Improvement Corporation in Ohio, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio.

McNally holds a B.S. in accountancy from Villanova University and an International MBA from the University of South Carolina. He became a CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) in 2016.

“I believe IMA is vital to the success of management accountants and finance professionals working for private companies, and ultimately for the success of their organizations,” McNally said. “By exploring the IMA Management Accounting Competency Framework, leveraging IMA’s CareerDriver® tool, participating in IMA Leadership Academy and other webinars, and engaging in IMA’s many volunteer leadership opportunities, those ‘private company’ members can be as successful as their big public company colleagues.”
