1. iPHONE 11 PRO

Two of the latest versions of the Apple flagship iPhone are the 11 Pro and Pro Max. The 11 Pro has a 5.8″ OLED Super Retina XDR screen, and the Pro Max has a 6.5″ OLED display. Both have the new iOS 13 operating system and Apple’s A13 Bionic chip with a third-generation neural engine. Also new are the array of three 12MP cameras in both models providing an extra level of zoom out to a 4X wide angle for still or video. A night mode feature automatically adjusts in low light, and smart HDR recognizes faces and adjusts highlights and skin tones for portraits. 4K 1,080p HD video is available at 30 or 60 fps. There are 2X optical and 6X digital zooms, slo-mo, and time-lapse video with stabilization. On-board storage for video and photos is available in 64GB, 256GB, or 512GB. Both iPhone Pro models are waterproof, tested to a depth of four meters for 30 minutes. The case is stainless steel and glass in gold, space gray, silver, or midnight green. The battery is fast-charge capable providing up to 50% charge in about 30 minutes. www.apple.com

2. iPHONE 11

The iPhone 11 has a 6.1″ LCD display. Unlike the Pro models’ on-board memory, the iPhone 11 is only available with 64GB, 128GB, and a top limit of 256GB. Also, the 11 has two cameras, wide and ultrawide, but no separate telephoto. There is, however, 2X optical zoom out and a digital zoom up to 5X. There’s portrait lighting with six effects (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, and High-Key Mono), night mode, and panorama up to 63MP. Video recording is 4K at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, with optical image stabilization and audio zoom. Like the Pro models, the iPhone 11 has the A13 Bionic chip and third-generation neural engine. The cases are aluminum and glass available in black, green, yellow, purple, product red, and white. www.apple.com

3. APPLE WATCH SERIES 5

The new Apple Watch Series 5 has added new model lines including Apple Watch Nike, Hermès, and Apple Edition, with new cases, bands, and watch faces. The latest smartwatch has an always-on Retina display, and you can select any band and case combination from the Apple Watch Studio including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or ceramic. You can listen to your Apple music library, podcasts, or audiobooks on your wireless earbuds. You can even leave your phone at home and still make calls or text on the watch. The smart assistant Siri and Apple Pay are also available on the watch. Among the new apps, there’s a Noise app that measures decibel levels, alerting you to noise that can be harmful, and an ECG app that displays your heart rate and rhythm. www.apple.com

4. GARMIN VENU GPS WATCH

The GPS tech standby Garmin made quite an impression in the wearables venue at this year’s IFA consumer electronics expo in Berlin. The company released several new smartwatches, with the new premium Venu gathering the most attention. The watch features a bright 1.2″ AMOLED touch display, a five-day battery, and complete suites for fitness and health. There are GPS and an NFC chip to enable Garmin Pay, and the watch will monitor your sleep, measuring three stages (light, deep, and REM) and noting your blood oxygen saturation levels. There are 20 exercise modes. Health stats display heart rate, stress, pulse oximetry, respiration, hydration, and sweat-loss estimates. www.garmin.com
